Paul Montgomery

Paul Montgomery joined the University of Tennessee as Director of Federal Relations in 2008. In January 2019 he joined the Office of Research and Engagement’s newly formed Strategic Research Initiatives team, where he focuses on enhancing UT’s research intelligence and capacity to maximize Department of Defense research opportunities. In his current position, Montgomery develops and sustains relationships that facilitate faculty engagement with DoD and defense industry officials. Montgomery is responsible for analyzing DoD research and development budgets, reports and related legislation in an effort to identify strategies for faculty to both influence development of DoD research programs and pursue DoD research funding. He also assists research teams with the preparation of project documents.
